"Crush the Crisis" Opioid Take Back Days

Tuesday, September 3, 2019 Leave a Comment

In an effort to combat the opioid crisis, HealthONE hospitals will host National Prescription Drug Take Back Day events on Saturday, September 7 and Saturday, October 26.  Members of the public can drive up to a location to drop off their medications and several law enforcement officers will be present at each location to collect and dispose of the drugs.

HealthONE is proud to be part of the HCA Healthcare-wide effort to help address the issue.

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day addresses a crucial public safety and public health issue. Every day, more than 130 people in the U.S. die after overdosing on opioids. The misuse of and addiction to opioids—including prescription pain relievers, heroin, and synthetic opioids such as fentanyl—is a serious national crisis that affects public health as well as social and economic welfare.

Volunteers from area HealthONE hospitals will partner with local law enforcement agencies for a “Crush the Crisis” opioid take back day. Community members are invited to safely and anonymously dispose of unused or expired prescription medications.
