Rundown: Making those fitness resolutions come true

Friday, December 27, 2013 Leave a Comment

It's that time of year again, when gym memberships across the country soar, spin classes fill up, there's a line for the treadmill, and we're all getting up at 5 a.m.

Happily, there are lots of options and great deals to be had! Here's a rundown of a few of our favorites.

1. Qi Gym Endorphin - Lowry * UPDATED*

Formerly Qi Extreme in Lowry, Qi Endorphin has a new name, a new look and a hard driving new format all about moving: high-intensity workouts combining the best of Qi Gyms. Expect cycling, yoga, CrossFit, Boxing and more. Did we mention high intensity? Expect to be pushed. We never thought we'd love Kettlebells so much! Workouts rely on continuously varied, functional movements using light weight. Owner Chris Lindley teaches many of the classes. Pay an unlimited monthly fee, or buy a 10 class package, or pay by the class.

Check their schedule because they sometimes offer FREE classes.

2. Pura Vida Fitness & Spa - Cherry Creek

OK, let's get it out there: this place is heavenly. Once you step foot in this oasis, you'll never want to leave. The options for fitness classes at all hours of the day is dizzying. The price tag is equally dizzying - but you'll find yourself coming up with a million reasons it's worth it. The amazing spin bikes that don't hurt your hiney; the Pilates room; every style of yoga; the eucalyptus steam room; the instructors who truly take it up a notch or four from the average gym; the personal trainers; the undulating ambiance of calm and contentedness… need I go on?

Before you say, "But I could never afford them…" they offer a special, partial membership that just happens to be perfect for moms who can make the classes Monday through Friday between 10 am and 3 pm (the "off-hours"): just $100 per month, no contract. Look at the schedule and you'll see there are lots of options during those hours.

And the best kept secret in town? Book a spa appointment, and you get use of the gym, too.
